ok, so here's a guilty pleasure: this mason/luciana electro-pop track: yeah yeah. always reminds me of awesome times dancing at 3am.
what's especially awesome about it is the clip - it's all hot loved-up semi-erotic gettin' it on. with headphones. taking the private moment into the ultra-private. where you've made your make-out session into a hot porn flick with soundtrack.
is this the aestheticisation of erotica through headphone usage now? fucking to the same song is ace, but it's also interesting to imagine what it would be like if you were both listening to different music - could you have sex to the sound of discordant rhythms? anyways, interesting questions, in light of my thesis/research topic about sound in public and the use of headphones as the aestheticisation of public space.
and now here would be where i'd normally embed the video so you could see what i was talking about. but universal music have blocked embedding on that vid. i'll never understand why the fuck they do that.

i was actually thinking the same thing (well obviously not exactly), bu from a business pov. the porn business..
as i am sure you know there are premium sites (paid) and freemium sites..but converting free to paid is a madafake...to solve.
and it hit me..sound..think bout it..
if u see two people having sex muted, is it as much of a turn on as seeing and hearing them? it's just a hypotheses, but i wonder what your expert opinion on it is?
is sound more erotic than image? what turns you on more as a human, seeing it, or hearing it and imagining what it is you could be seeing?
would people pay for the added pleasure of soundin general (as they do seem to pay for silence as in those retreats and sound proof sleeptanks, so the opposite would seem somewhat natural)?
at the most basic level it is at least a diff proposition(not to mention cost effective as mostly you have already the image and sound files, so u are selling up without additional costs, but i digress)
I am genuinly interested in ur thoughts (not so much on the morality or bizz pov, though ur bizz thinking would be appreciated) but more on like i said above, what is less sexy, without sound or without pictures?

niko, what the hell would my life be like without you? heh. and, i think you're right. the difference between free experience and premium experience is sound. there have been some amazing artworks that have created the experience of someone whispering in your ear and i can't tell you how visceral that becomes.
interestingly, though, you speak of the power of imagination with sound and perhaps this is the crux of what interested me about the clip and what you're speaking about with your biz pov - it still has high currency - that we love to create a space (acoustic or otherwise) in which we can use our imaginations.
