I watched the Helvetica doco last weekend and I heard an old Italian designer say the reason he liked it is because it needed lots of space to look good - and in this world of clutter, what Helvetica did was try and make the World less ugly.
I know it's the beige Volvo of fonts but I loved that perspective.
That's it, just wanted to share.
thanks for sharing, rob. :)
i loved that doco. mario(?) vignelli - the italian designer in NY - he was great!
i know that helvetica is the over-used, bastardised, lazymans font that it is, but it's still a lovely classic in my book. [and i'm hoping that red is lovely and classic too.]
