it's official
So, regular readers of this blog will know that I went to Interesting in London this year. I had a ball because it was a fantastic conference featuring a huge range of topics, styles and information on anything that was interesting. It was like the real-time, real-life equivalent of a combination of a library, speed-dating and bloglines and I got to meet up with a whole bunch of bloggery, twittery, interesting types.
Now, the southern hemisphere will be hosting its own version, called Interesting South, held at the Bondi Pavillion Theatre on the 22nd November.
And, I'll be speaking at it.
Eep! I'm shit-scared and excited. All at the same time.
Excited 'cos i'm sharing the stage with some awesome peeps, including Dan Hill from City of Sound and Gavin Heaton - Servant of Chaos and Age of Conversation guy and Pia van Gelder, Dork-bot Sydney Overlord. Shit scared 'cos i'm sharing the stage with some awesome peeps.
Although part of me wants the theatre to be completely empty, I'm still going to encourage you to come along. Seriously, there are some amazing people speaking about some cool shit and if it's anything at all like the London shindig, it will be a great day!
And obviously, go to the website to check out more info.
I'm also going to be helping Emily and the Sydney Coffee morning kids out by doing some backdrop/set design stuff, so when i get some images of what i'm doing, i'll post them on here.

You'll cream it in.
Cheers for the tatt love! And happy halloween!
It helps if you can convince your audience that you don't really know anything about your subject but that the alternative version will be more interesting.
I recall that's exactly what you did Tom ;O)
Matters arising.
1) Can you speak and create the marvelous notebook simultaneously?
2) Why no mention of original Interesting on the website?
3) Are you telling me that all that informed spiel you gave me in various galleries was totally bogus?
Hey Lauren - maybe I could do a one minute musical piece to camera (if I can find one) that can be used for the conference ? I'll need to get the bagpipes out...last time I suggested something like this I got myself into trouble. I could get my daughter to accompany me on the harp.
angus - i'm not sure about creaming it. but i'm hoping there are scones like last time!
claire - no worries love! enjoy...
doddsy - i'm great at multi-tasking but the bit i'm unsure about is if i can draw and shit myself at the same time.
i'm sure there is a mention of the original on the website somewhere and yes, i'm a fabulous liar and a great performer, which is perhaps what got me into this mess in the first place :)
tom - i also recall that it's exactly what you did last time, you cheeky bugger. and as far as the piece on the pipes goes, unless it's as good as the guy on the saw, don't even bother. however, mayber your daughter could do the notebook while i'm speaking - she does fantastic drawings you know.
There's no way I can promise to approximate Rhodri's cutting edge genius.
I've been tutoring my daughter at drawing now too - she's got the hang of legs, feet, arms, hands and haior all in one week since she's had the benefit of my insight.
She only seems to be able to apply it to pictures of PIRATES at present however. Where do they get these things from ?
Hey nice one L. I'm sure you'll do good.
I'm really really bad at speaking in public, the only thing I would say is watch the Ken Robinson TED talk and try and be like that!
You may have seen it already...

hey charlie - i have seen the sir ken vid and believe me, it doesn't help matters - the guy is bloody brilliant. i'm jealous that i won't get to see him in london early next year, but hey, another time i'm sure.
Oh, good girl.
thanks opi.. it's pity sacrum won't be able to make this one, he was fab. and i guess it's pretty impossible to walk from munich to sydney - he doesn't strike me as the flying type.
I have some rather sad news about Sacrum.
he lost his lovely adidas bag on the way back?
